Defending limited overs champions Richmond College Galle were eliminated from the Singer U19 Division I 2-day tournament after they were beaten by Prince of Wales College Moratuwa on first innings.

Kaumal destroys Richmond in quarter-final play-offs

The Cambrians added 127 more runs to the 1st innings total resuming from yesterday’s overnight score of 120/3. Before that they restricted the Galle team to 162 runs.

Skipper Suwath Mendis top-scored for Prince of Wales with 50 runs while Sri Lanka U19 cap Sandun Mendis picked up 4 wickets for the Richmondites.

Having lost the 1st innings, the Richmond boys scored 160 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 2nd innings. Left-hander Vinuja Kiriella scored 55 in the fruitless 2nd innings for Richmond.

Devapathiraja College, Rathgama vs St. Joseph Vaz College, Wennappuwa

The traditional match between Devapathiraja College and St. Joseph Vaz College began at the Mahinda Rajapaksha International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first. Devapathiraja taking full advantage of the familiar conditions, in which they played a 2-day match on the previous days also, bowled out their opponents for 131 runs.

In reply Devapathiraja managed to secure a first innings win as they scored 154 runs in 56.4 overs. Sri Lanka U19 Captain Nipun Dananjaya picked up 5 wickets for St. Joseph Vaz College.

St. Joseph’s College took major honours in the traditional match against Ananda College played at Ananda College grounds.

The Josephians resuming from 175/6 ended up scoring a daunting 314. Dineth Jayakody warmed himself up very well for the forthcoming Big Match as he scored a century.

Ananda College batting in their 2nd innings 121 runs behind the Josephians, scored 251 runs for the loss of 8 wickets as their skipper Kamesh Nirmal top-scored with 50.
