Royal College and Trinity College qualify for the Semi-Finals of the U19 Schools Tier A Limited Over Cricket Tournament, as they defeated Nalanda College and St. Sebastian’s College respectively in the Quarter-Final encounters worked off today at Colombo.

Having won the toss, Nalanda College Skipper Raveen de Silva opted to bat first, but were unable to post a competitive score on the board as they were restricted to 189 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs.

The Skipper de Silva himself was the top run scorer for Nalanda College as he made an unbeaten 59 runs off 85 balls, with 2 fours and a six. The left-arm spinner Dasis Manchanayake was very impressive with the ball for Royal College as he managed to pick up 3 wickets for 17 runs.   

Royal College cruised to victory in the 39th over with 6 wickets in hand. The man-in-form Ahan Wickramasinghe stroked an unbeaten 71 runs off 79 balls with 6 fours, while the opening batsman Sineth Jayawardena made 60 runs off 75 balls with 6 fours and a six.

St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa vs Trinity College, Kandy  

Sukitha Prasanna of St. Sebastian’s College won the toss and chose to bat first, but they struggled with the bat against quality a bowling attack from Trinity College as they were restricted to 131 runs in 43.2 overs. 

The opening batsman Yashan Avishka top-scored for the lads from Moratuwa with a knock of 51 runs off 95 balls with 5 fours. The left-arm spinner Dinuka Thennakoon (4/22) and off-spinner Abhishek Anandakumar (3/40) shared 7 wickets among them.

The strong Trinity batting lineup had no issue of chasing down the modest target of 134 runs as they went over the line in the 31st over with 7 wickets in hand. The opening batsman Umair Raizan was the chief contributor with the bat as he made 60 runs off 79 balls, including 8 fours.
