Hundred no. 7 for Santhush, big win for the Annites
Three games of Singer U19 division-one tournament were played around the island today, 14th February.
St. Peter’s College vs Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda
Deciding to bat first at the picturesque Galle International Stadium, St. Peter’s College posted a modest 186 runs in their first-innings. Shivan Perera provided a valuable knock of 53 runs for the Peterites.
Akila Mendis was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged 4 wicket for 33 runs. Kavindu Nadeeshan also fared well, with figures of 3 for 49.
Dharmasoka College managed only 109 runs against the collective efforts of the Peterite bowlers. Wanuja Kumara, Kanishka Maduwantha, Ruvin Senevirathne, Tariq Saboor and Shivan Perera picked up 2 wickets each.
Going back to their regular brand of cricket, the batting-greedy top-order batsmen from Bambalapitiya did not spare anything for the rest of the batsmen. St. Peter’s College scored 216 runs after batting out the game.
Santhush Gunathilaka, who is having a dream-run, brought up his 7th ton of the season with an unbeaten 101 while Nipunaka Fonseka remained at the other with 53 runs to his name.

St. Anne’s recorded a consolation win in their last game of the tournament at Kurunegala. St. Anne’s won the toss and elected to bat first. Skipper Kavindu Ranasinghe lead from the front as he scored a vital 71 runs. Lanky seamer, Vishal Silva picked up 3 wickets.
Rishitha Perera and Pasindu Thennakoon demolished the Antonian batting with ease as the pair picked up 4 wickets each. The visitors scored only 93 runs in their first innings. Being forced to follow-on, the batting unit of St. Anthony’s College failed terribly as they were bowled out for just 157 runs. The two off-spinners from Kurunegala, Pumudushan Sedara and Manaan Mussammil picked 3 wickets each.
The Annites were given a 14-run target to win which they chased down with ease.

Being inserted to bat first, Mahinda College had to settle for a below-par 106 runs in the first-innings. Nuwantha Madushanka was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 28. Kawshika Kodithuwakku and Hansika Welihinda chipped in with 25 runs each for Mahinda College.
Gurukula College in reply, were at 111 for 4 at the close of play. The go-to men Nuwan Chanuka and Sithija Chamod were at the crease with 30 and 26 runs respectively.
