Here’s a round up of the matches which took place in the U19 Super Provincial limited overs tournament today. 

Eastern Province vs Southern Province

Southern Province registered a massive 8 wicket victory over Eastern Province at Panagoda. Eastern Province won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost wickets at regular intervals which didn’t allow them to construct their innings. The only batsman to hang out in the middle for longer was Dinuka Dilshan who top scored with 54 runs. Avindu Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 27 while Sasith Manuranga took 3 for 24.

In reply, Southerners did not hold back as they dominated the run chase. 96 balls is all what they needed to get 147 runs and they did that with 8 wickets in hand. Hansaka Welihinna top scored with an unbeaten 53.

Here’s a round up of the matches which took place in the SLC Super U19 Provincial tournament today…

North Western vs Northern Province

North Western Province had a walk in the park against Northern Province as they registered an easy 6 wicket victory at CCC grounds. North Western won the toss and elected to bowl first. Randeera Ranasinghe and Wanitha Wanninayake ran through the Northern batting line up with utmost ease. Randeera bagged 4 for 28 while Wanitha bagged 3 wickets. Northerners were bowled out for just 75 runs in 24 overs.

In reply, North Western got over the line in just 16.2 overs with 6 wickets in hand. Kavindu Ishara and Dulaj Ranathunge scored unbeaten twenties to guide their side home.

Western Province North vs Western Province Central

The battle between North (WPN) and Central (WPC) teams of Western Province was won by WPN. WPN won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed to post a fighting total of 221 in their 50 overs. Mahesh Theekshana top scored with 74. He played a vital innings after the loss of wickets early on. Zahira College Skipper Sajith Sameera scored a quick fire 31 at the top. Vimukthi Kulathinge was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 21.

In reply, the WPC was given a good platform by Santhush Gunathilake at the top. Santhush scored 55, this was his second half century in the tournament. Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sanjula Abeywickrama chipped in with valuable cameos in the middle order but they gave away their wickets too early which put added pressure on the tail. With ten over left they needed another 37 runs with 3 wickets in hand. They could only score another 24 runs as WPN bowlers took the remaining 3 wickets to claim victory by 13 runs.

Western Province South vs Uva Province

Western Province South (WPS) registered a 43 run victory against Uva Province at Welisara today. WPS won the toss and elected to bat first. Kamil Mishara’s century guided them to a formidable total of 268 runs. He found good support from Kavindu Umayanga and Nishan Madushanka who scored half centuries.

In reply, Uva lost 3 wickets inside the first 15 overs. Naveen Hasaranga scored a valuable 33 at the top but the star with the bat in the run chase was Sashika Dulshan. Sashika top scored with 75 runs but he did not get much support from the rest which ultimately left them 43 runs short of the target. Tashik Perera was the pick of the bowlers for WPS with 3 for 42.
