The two-day tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association continued yesterday along with some traditional encounters where S.Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia took more honours with a thumping win over Dharmapala Vidyalaya Pannipitiya.
In the traditional two-day cricket encounter between the two schools, S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia produced a dominating performance against the Dharmapala team as they registered a mammoth win by an innings and 22 runs.
Thisen Eheliyagoda was the key performer with the bat in hand for the Thomians as he made a fabulous 106. In bowling, Abheeth Paranavidana took a match bag of 7 wickets (1/20 & 6/35), while Dineth Gunawardena clinched a match bag of 6 wickets (3/7 & 3/30).
In another traditional encounter that ended yesterday, St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa registered a victory in the first innings over Moratu Maha Vidyalaya. Kanchana Nimshan (47), Tharindu Eshan (39) & Vishwa Rajapaksha (37) were the heroes with the bat for the boys from Wennappuwa.
In the only two-day tournament fixture worked off yesterday, Nalanda College managed to put up an excellent score of 260 before getting bowled out on day 01 against St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa. Osada Pamuditha dished out the critical performance with the bat for the Nalandians, making 76. At the end of day 01, St. Sebastian’s College was 35/1, trailing by further 225 runs.
