Devapathiraja College, Rathgama crowned champions of U15 Division 1 Inter-Schools Cricket Tournament 2026 after beating Royal College, Colombo in the final of the tournament worked off today (3rd September) at Ananda College Grounds, Colombo.

Morning showers delayed the start of play, forcing the match officials to reduce the contest to a 49-over-a-side affair. Royal College won the toss and elected to field first, testing the Rathgama batters in damp conditions.

Devapathiraja rose to the occasion, posting a competitive total of 192 for 9 wickets in their allotted 49 overs. Opener Shanidu Sineth Mikeshara anchored the innings with a gritty, patient knock of 51 runs off 126 balls, which included 4 fours. He was ably supported by Gauthem Surya, who chipped in with crucial 45 runs to ensure their bowlers had a defendable target.

In reply, Royal College got off to an excellent start, with their top order powering them to 121 for 1 at one stage. However, a catastrophic batting collapse saw them bowled out for just 159 runs, losing their remaining 9 wickets for a mere 38 runs.

Ramiru Thiranagama top scored for Royal College with a fighting knock of 78 runs off 105 balls, including 8 fours. The collapse was triggered by Deneth Dinuka and Diyath Sanjitha, who dismantled the Royal batting lineup by picking up three wickets apiece.
