The Lanka Premier League (LPL) is excited to announce a significant development for the upcoming season. The Dambulla franchise is now under the new ownership of Imperial Sports Group, led by Bangladeshi entrepreneurs Tamim Rahman and Golam Rakib. 

These dynamic business leaders, who also boast extensive experience in the UK market, are poised to inject a fresh perspective into the tournament as they take the helm of the rebranded Dambulla Thunders. 

Tamim Rahman, co-founder of Imperial Sports Group, shared his vision for the future: “We’re diving headfirst into this exhilarating journey with the Lanka Premier League. Our core mission is to build a team that exemplifies spirit, skill, and sportsmanship, one that will captivate and inspire cricket fans worldwide.” 

Golam Rakib, co-founder, echoed Rahman’s enthusiasm, outlining their strategic goals: “Our vision for the Dambulla Thunders extends beyond simply competing at the highest level. With ownership hailing from Bangladesh and established in the UK business scene, the Dambulla Thunders are poised for a significant revamp. Sri Lanka’s premier domestic T20 tournament with an international flair, the Lanka Premier League 2024, will be held from July 01- 21, 2024.
