Sri Lankan cricketers to get first vaccine dose on Sunday

Professor Arjun de Silva, the chairman of newly appointed Sri Lanka Cricket interim committee has revealed to the Daily Mirror that the Sri Lankan national men’s cricketers will be given the first dose of vaccination next Sunday (11th April).  

“The players will be called at the Health ministry campus on 11th April and the first dose of vaccination will be given to them on the same day. We have planned to give them the Indian-made AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.” Arjun de Silva who is in charge of Sri Lanka Cricket said.

“The second dose of the vaccine has been scheduled to be given to them after 2-3 months. The entire national squad covering all Test players and Limited Over players and the support staff will be given the vaccine,” De Silva further said.

The Sri Lanka national men’s team returned to the island on Monday (05th April) after finishing off the Test, ODI & T20I series against West Indies. The team’s next assignment is a 2-match Test series against Bangladesh which has been scheduled to commence on 21st April.
