Having won the toss, Sri Lanka opted to bowl first and delivered a disciplined performance with the ball to restrict the hosts to 119 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. The visitors kept things tight from the outset, denying the West Indies batters any real momentum throughout the innings.
The experienced left-arm spinner Inoka Ranaweera led the charge with a tidy spell, picking up two crucial wickets, while fellow left-armer Sugandika Kumari also claimed two scalps to keep the scoring in check.
