West Indies registered their third consecutive victory in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a comfortable five-wicket win over Sri Lanka in their Group B encounter played today (21st June) in Bristol.

After winning the toss, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews opted to bowl first, and her decision paid immediate dividends as the Caribbean bowlers kept the Sri Lankan batters under constant pressure throughout the innings.

Sri Lanka struggled to build partnerships and were eventually restricted to just 98 runs. Nilakshika Silva was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with a fighting knock of 30 runs off 26 deliveries, which included three boundaries.

Matthews led from the front with the ball, producing an excellent spell of 3 wickets for 15 runs in her four overs to put Sri Lanka firmly on the back foot.

Chasing a modest target of 99, West Indies made steady progress despite losing a few wickets along the way. Veteran batter Stafanie Taylor anchored the innings with an unbeaten 27 runs off 25 balls, striking a four and a six, as the Caribbean side reached the target in the 17th over with five wickets in hand.

Sri Lanka’s off-spinner Kaveesha Dilhari delivered an impressive performance with the ball, claiming 2 wickets for 22 runs and briefly raising hopes of a fightback. However, the target proved too small to defend as West Indies comfortably crossed the finish line.

The victory strengthened West Indies’ position in Group B, making it three wins from three matches and continuing their unbeaten run in the tournament. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will need to regroup quickly as they look to keep their World Cup campaign alive in the remaining fixtures.
