Sri Lanka managed to take control in the second Test against Bangladesh as they put on 531 runs for their first innings in Chattogram.
Sri Lanka resumed their first innings on Day 2 at 314/4, with the skipper Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal remained unbeaten at the crease.
Chandimal managed to reach his 26th Test half-century before nicking behind the bowling off Shakib Al Hasan. The duo added 86 runs for the 5th wicket.

De Silva departed straight after the Lunch break after making vital 70 runs off 111 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.
Prabath Jayasuriya then joined Mendis at the middle and the duo frustrated the Bangladesh bowlers adding crucial 65-run partnership before the former was trapped in front by Shakib at the stroke of Tea break.
Jayasuriya as a tail-ender showed great resistance with the bat and notched up his highest score in Tests – 28 runs off 75 balls.
Mendis went onto score his second half-century in Test cricket and missed out on a well-deserved century as he was stranded on 92 with the batters on the other end continued to lose their wickets.
Sri Lanka managed to post a mammoth total – 531 on the board which was a rare team record in Test cricket as it wasn’t included a single century. It goes into the record books as the highest-ever total in a Test innings without a hundred.
Bangladesh opening pair Mahmudul Hasan and Zakir Hasan started off on a solid note in their reply with the bat adding 47 runs for the first wicket before Lahiru Kumara got rid of the former for 21 runs. The hosts were 55 runs for 1 wicket at the close of play on Day 2.
