Several national Cricketers (10-12 players) who toured England have signed the tour contracts for the upcoming India series. The others have been given an ultimatum to sign latest by tomorrow morning (7th July), ThePapare learns.

The team led by Kusal Perera returned home on Tuesday evening (6th July) and entered the bio-bubble created at Taj Samudra Hotel. The Sri Lanka national team went on the England tour without having signed the annual contracts or the tour contracts due to the non-transparency in the awarding of points in the SLC Annual Player Contracts for 2021/2022.

On the eve of their departure for England, the players signed a declaration after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) gave them written confirmation that the 24 players who received annual contracts upon request will be given their evaluations.

The national selectors have been advised to only only consider the players who have signed the annual contract or a tour contract with the board, for selection for the upcoming India series, which starts on the 13th of July.

Meanwhile, around 40 players have already signed ‘A’ Team, Emerging Team and Senior Category contracts with SLC and are training in two bio-bubble environments in Dambulla and Colombo.
