The final week’s matches of the SLC Major League Tournament got underway today (11th November) at several venues across the island.

Tamil Union skipper Sadeera Samarawickrama and left-handed opening batter Navod Paranavithana stole the limelight on day one of the final weeks of the Major League tournament, as they both scored eye-catching centuries against Nugegoda SWC.
Samarawickrama top scored with a knock of 151 runs off 194 balls with 19 fours and a six while Paranavithana made 147 runs off 137 balls with 17 fours and 5 sixes. The duo added 229 runs for the opening wicket of Tamil Union’s first innings.
Irosh Samarasooriya of Kandy Customs SC was the other centurion of the day as he made 103 runs off 158 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes against Police SC.
Sachitha Jayatilake (98*) and Ishan Rangana (79*) put on a match-defining 164-run unbeaten partnership for the 6th wicket in Sebastianites innings as they guided their team to a strong position on day one in their encounter against a strong SSC outfit.
The veteran all-rounder Tillakaratne Sampath starred with bat and ball putting his side BRC on top against Kalutara TC on day one. Sampath who contributed with the bat scoring 42 runs picked up 3 crucial wickets with the ball for BRC.
