Four matches of SLC Major Clubs 50 Over Tournament 2023/24 worked off today (17th December) at Colombo and Dombagoda.

Sinhalese Sports Club registered a thrilling 14-run win over Nondescripts Cricket Club in a rain-shortened encounter worked off today at SSC Grounds. This was SSC’s second win of the season.

Batting first, SSC managed to post a formidable total – 337/7 on the board courtesy of Avishka Fernando’s brilliant century. National-capped players Charith Asalanka, Dasun Shanaka and young batting sensation Nipun Dhananjaya also stroked vital half-centuries.

In reply, NCC also showcased a strong batting display as they managed to post 248 runs for 6 wickets in 35 overs before rain brought curtains down on the game.

NCC opening batter Pathum Nissanka played a lone fight, scoring a blistering century in a losing cause. Nissanka hit 135 runs off 96 balls with 13 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 140.62.

Army Sports Club recorded a convincing win over Badureliya Sports Club in another rain-shortened encounter played today at SLAOCIC Stadium in Dombagoda.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Army SC posted 214/7 in 49 overs as national capped Dinesh Chandimal top-scoring with a knock of 49 runs.

A collective bowling effort from the soldiers helped them restrict Badureliya’s batting lineup to just 139 runs, snatching a comprehensive 75-run win.

Meanwhile, Panadura Sports Club and Chilaw Marians Cricket Club also registered wins in the other two encounters worked off today.
