7 matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major League Premier Super 8s and Premier Plate Championship were worked off around the island today (26).

Bloomfield vs Army

An evenly fought contest between Army SC and Bloomfield saw 18 wickets fall on the opening day.

Dushan Vimukthi’s six wicket haul reduced Bloomfield to 163 in their first innings, before Army struggled in their turn to end the day on 153/8.

Ragama CC ended day two of their game against NCC in a dominant position with a 79 run first innings lead and one wicket in hand.

The Premier Super 8s of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Major League Tournament kicked off around the island.

They made 326/9 in reply to NCC’s 247 all out with Janith Liyanage, Udara Jayasundera and Lahiru Thirimanne making half centuries. Chamika Karunaratne captured four wickets for NCC.

BRC vs Colts

Colts were in a spot of bother at 209/6 when stumps were drawn on day 2, but more importantly Priyamal Perera was unbeaten on 73* giving them some hope going into day three.

BRC were bowled out for 310 early in the day as Nisala Tharaka captured six wickets after Shashin Dilranga made a century on day one.

CCC who have to fight it out in the Plate championships made a good start as they ended day one on 361/4 against Badureliya SC.

Ron Chandraguptha finally found some form with a classy 130 while Madhawa Warnapura remained unbeaten on 95*. Ashan Priyanjan also chipped in with 66.

Chilaw Marians vs  Saracens SC

Chilaw Marians fell to 401 all-out but hit back to bowl out Saracens SC for 236 with Asitha Fernando bowling impressively to capture five wickets.

Malinda Pushpakumara also chipped in with three scalps as Chilaw secured a vital 165 run lead.

SSC were well on their way to an outright win when play was halted on day two thanks to centuries from Kaushal Silva and Chamara Kapugedara as the duo helped SSC secure a 248 run first innings lead.

Kavindu Kulasekara also stroked an elegant 78 while Chanaka Komasaru and Akalanka Ganegama captured four and three wickets respectively.
