Sajith Fernando returns in manager role with SLC

Former national selector and  ex-first class cricket Sajith Fernando has been appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) as the Manager of the Sri Lanka Emerging team, for their home series against the South Africa Emerging team beginning on the 28th of July.

The series will consist of three four day matches and three one day games giving exposure to the up-and-coming cricketers of both nations.

Fernando served the role of selector of the Sri Lanka mens cricket team for more than 8 months starting from September 2017, before he was replaced last month.

The former stylish left handed batsman who hails from St. Anthony’s College, Kandy, was a veteran of 193 first class matches scoring over 10,000 runs and was unfortunate to not get a single national cap during his era.

He was a very influential coach at NCC after his retirement as a player, guiding them to many titles during his tenure before taking over as a national selector.
