The annual one-day encounter between St. John’s College Panadura and Royal College Panadura took place today at the De Zoysa Stadium in Moratuwa.
The 23rd Battle of the Greens 2-day fixture concluded yesterday with St. John’s emerging victorious over their arch rivals Royal. The 16th 50-over encounter of the same rivalry saw St. John’s coming out as winners once again.

The Johnians posted a modest 234/9 after being inserted to bat. Yasiru Sandeepa top-scored with 54 while Praveen Sandamal, Sachin Dhananjaya and Dinushka Madushan contributed with 42, 39 and 36 respectively.
The Panadura Royalists were bundled out for a mere 96 runs in 31.4 overs as the Johnians clinched a 138-run massive win. In bowling Shashika Manupriya and Praveen Sandamal grabbed 3 wickets each. Member of the Sri Lanka U19 pool, fast bowler Ashan Dilhara claimed 2 wickets for St. John’s while Akila Senesh’s 35 was the highest score for Royal.

The 10th Fraternal Battle One Day encounter was all about the Sri Lanka U19 skipper Nipun Dhananjaya’s brilliant century while chasing. After restricting Chilaw St. Mary’s College for 226 runs St. Joseph Vaz College cruised towards victory.

Nipun Dhananjaya was the back bone of the Vazian run-chase as he scored an unbeaten 102. Earlier in the day Udith Irushika of St. Mary’s top-scored with 67 runs for his team after they won the toss and elected to bat first. The match was played at Harindra Corea grounds in Chilaw.

The annual one-day encounter between St. Aloysius College Galle and Vidyaloka College Galle took place at the Galle International Stadium yesterday. Underdogs Vidyaloka College were shot out for just 98 runs after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
