Nalanda conceded first innings points to S Thomas’ in their drawn U-19 inter-school cricket match concluded at Mt. Lavinia today.

At stumps on the final day S. Thomas’s were 181 for the loss of four wickets in their second innings largely thanks to a superb 95 from Rashmika Opatha and a well composed 52 from Yohan Mendis.

Resuming from their overnight score of 63 for three, Nalanda may have hoped to erase the deficit and take a first innings lead but an impressive bowling effort saw them crashing for 183, managing just 120 runs for the remaining seven wickets. Tharindu Ratnayake was the pick of the bowler with four for 35 while Chenutha Wickramasinghe took three for 30 runs. Madushan Ravichandrakumar also impressed with two wickets for 15.
