Sri Lanka’s ace fast-bowler Dushmantha Chameera is likely to miss the upcoming Asia Cup owing to injury, as reported by the Daily News.

Chameera has reportedly injured a ligament in his shoulder, making him unavailable for the entire tournament, which is set to begin on the 30th of August, hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The right-arm quick has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, the latest being this shoulder injury which saw him miss out on the latter half of the Lanka Premier League in which his side, B-Love Kandy, emerged champions.

He also suffered an injury to a pectoral muscle ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers in June, which ruled him out of that all-important competition. That injury came just as he returned to the fold after undergoing surgery for a calf injury which he sustained during the T20 World Cup in Australia last October.

The 31-year-old has played just 4 internationals in the past 12 months, out of 39 white-ball games Sri Lanka has played during that period and is yet again in a race against time to recover in time for the World Cup which is set to begin in October.
