Sri Lanka beat Japan 85-18 at the 13th Asian Netball Championship 2024

Sri Lanka registered their fourth consecutive win with an 85-18 demolition of Japan at the 13th Asian Netball Championship 2024, held at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium in Bangalore, India.

Just 10 seconds into the game, Sri Lanka lost center Sachini Rodrigo to a knee injury following a clash with a Japanese player. At one point, the score was 4-2 in favor of Sri Lanka, but the islanders quickly increased their scoring rate to lead 17-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Sri Lanka added 22 points to Japan’s 5 in the second quarter, making it 39-11 at halftime. The third quarter ended 23-1 (62-12), and the fourth quarter finished 23-6.

Sri Lanka rested Thishala Algama and Rashmi Perera for the first three quarters, playing with Dulangi Wannithilake and Hasitha Mendis as Goal Shooter and Goal Keeper. Overall, Sri Lanka shot 85 out of 92, achieving a 92% accuracy rate.

Dulangi Wannithilake scored 36 out of 38 at 95%, while Hasitha Mendis netted 26 out of 30 at 87%. In the fourth quarter, Thishala Algama scored 18 out of 19 at 95%, and Rashmi Perera was a perfect 5 out of 5.
