Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club secured their place in the final of the SLC Major Clubs Limited Overs Tournament as they defeated Colombo Cricket Club by 16 runs in the 1st Semi-Final of the tournament which worked off today (31st) at Colts Grounds in Colombo.
Tamil Union skipper Dhananjaya De Silva won the toss and opted to bat first. Ron Chandraguptha and Dilruwan Perera opened the batting for Tamil Union and put on a 37-run partnership for the first wicket.
Tamil Union wicket-keeper batter Sadeera Samarawickrama who batted at No. 3, notched up a classy half-century helping his side to post a respectable total of 238 runs. The opening batter Chandraguptha (48) and the skipper De Silva (45) chipped in with useful contributions with the bat.

Sri Lanka national team’s ace spinner Wanindu Hasaranga who represented Colombo Cricket Club today worked his magic with the ball again picking up 4 wickets for 37 runs.
In reply, Colombo Cricket Club posted only 222 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Lakshan Sandakan renowned for his chinaman bowling showcased his ability to handle the bat scoring an unbeaten 62 runs off 72 balls with 7 fours and a six.
The 28-year-old speedster Pramod Madushan who made his debut for Sri Lanka last month against Australia in the ODI series, bowled a match-winning spell (4/51) helping his side snatch the victory.
