NCC, Ragama CC, Army SC & Tamil Union C&AC have qualified to the semi-finals of the ongoing Major Clubs Limited Over Tournament 2021/22.

In the 156 matches which were due to be played, 85 games were washed away by the Sri Lankan monsoons. Unfortunately, the SLC had no option but to decide the semi-finalists based on the games played and sharing the points of the abandonments.

Accordingly, the aforementioned teams qualified to the semi-finalists which will be held tomorrow, 28th of November 2021.

From the above four teams, SL Army Sports Club was the front-runner of the tournament with 22 points, having won 6 matches out of the 7 matches played.

Nondescripts Cricket Club came second in group A behind Army SC, having won 4 matches out of the 5 they played.

Each team was supposed to play 12 games each, but teams like Colombo Cricket Club only had the fortune of playing 2 out of them.

In Group B, Ragama Cricket Club and Tamil Union Cricket Club topped with 18 points each. Ragama CC won all 4 games that they played, while the Tamils won 5 out of the 6 played.

Likewise, Tamil Union C&AC will play against SL Army SC in one semi-final tomorrow at Surrey Village, Maggona, while Ragama CC will take on NCC in the other semi at Army Grounds, Dombagoda.

29th November has been announced as a reserve date for the semi-finals.

The final will be played on the 30th of November at P. Sara Oval stadium in Colombo.

It was not an ideal tournament to take note of the individual performances. Chanaka Ruwansiri was the leading run-scorer of the tournament with 320 runs to his name in 10 outings.

Among the semi-finalists, only Asela Gunaratne is in that list with 209 runs at a staggering average of 104.50.

In bowling, it was the left-arm spinner of Galle CC, Chalana de Silva, who was in the top of the chart with 21 wickets. Jeffrey Vandersay (16 wickets) of Tamil Union C&AC and Chathuranga de Silva (14 wickets) of NCC were the only semi-finalists in the top 10 of that list.
