The International Schools Athletic Championship (ISAC) 2023, held on 25th and 26th February, commenced at Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. Being the first ISAC event held since the pandemic, it was a crucial moment for both TISSL (The International Schools of Sri Lanka) and this year’s host, Lyceum International School (LIS).

The International Schools Athletic Championships (ISAC), which commenced in 2001, was the brainchild of the Founder, of Gateway College, the late Mr. R. I. T. Alles. Since then, it has established itself as the biggest inter-school sporting event on the island.

This year LIS hosted around 1800 athletes from the 23 TISSL schools with over 106 track and field events for boys and girls of varying age groups. All participants were able to show their true colours, whilst others were able to shine brighter by setting new records.

This year’s challenging two-day meet had special significance for Lyceum International Schools, as this was Lyceum’s 10th time hosting the event. The pressure was high, as this was the first ISAC since the pandemic and lockdowns.
