Lakshan Rodrigo’s magnificent century coupled with disciplined bowling helped LB Finance to a fourth straight win as Maduranga Zoyza with bat and Ravindu Wijerathne with ball drove Hayleys to victory in the Mercantile Division ‘B’ cricket tournament.
LB Finance vs Pan Asia Bank (PABC)
Winning the toss and batting first LB Finance got off to a scintillating start as the opening pair of Sadeera Samarawicrama and Lakshan Rodrigo put on a magnificent stand of 223 for the first wicket. Samarawicrama was the first to be dismissed as he scored a blistering 89 off just 59 balls while Rodrigo went on to get a classy century to take LB Finance to a staggering 385 in 48 overs.
Lahiru Wickramasinghe was the single stand out performer with the ball for PABC as he managed 4 for 57 in his allotted 10 overs.
LB Finance carried their good momentum through to their bowling innings as they dismantled and dismissed PABC for a cheap 186 in 39.2 overs. Viraj Deepal was the only contributor with the bat for PABC as he managed 50 off 55 balls.
Rajeewa Weerasinghe (2/23), Taneesha Weerakoon (2/27), Charith Sudaraka (2/28) and Chathuranga Kumara (2/31) all managed 2 wickets each as they ran through the fragile batting of PABC to earn LB Finance an enormous 199 run win.

Hayleys vs Seylan Bank
Electing to bat after winning the toss, Hayleys spearheaded by Maduranga Zoyza who scored a magnificent 146 off just 108 balls steering Hayleys to a competitive total of 283 in 46.2 overs. A Khan was the only other contributor for Hayleys as he managed 43 valuable runs, coming in low down the order.
Kanchana Gunawardena was the only player to shine with the ball for Seylan Bank as he managed 4 for 52 in 8.3 overs. Gunawardena added impetus with the bat as he opened the innings for Seylan Bank and scored better than a-run-a-ball 67 as he along with Tharanga Paranavitana (55) worked tirelessly to drag Seylan Bank to victory but fell short by 85 runs.
Ravindu Wijerathne was the chief destroyer with the ball for Hayleys as he managed 5 scalps for just 21 runs.
