Bloomfield’s top order batsmen Kasun Abeyaratna and Sachin Jayawardane who got dismissed for ducks in the first innings, made amends in the 2nd innings with centuries. The pair put together a mammoth partnership of 238 runs for the 2nd wicket. Jayawardane lost his wicket after making 116 while his partner Abeyaratna, managed to remain unbeaten at the close of play with 131 runs next to his name.

Kalutara Town Club v Police SC
Kalutara Town club registered an outright win by 39 runs against Police SC at Police grounds today. Police SC had a target of 191 runs to get in the 4th innings. They were in a comfortable position at 102 for 2 but, they lost 3 wickets for just 3 runs with Matheesha Perera taking the two set batsmen and then Lakshan Jayasinghe taking another.
They couldn’t recover from that. Apart from skipper Ajantha Mendis who scored 17, former Trinitian Lakshan Jayasinghe ran through the batting line up with ease. He ended up with figures of 5 for 47 in the innings and a 9 wicket match bag. Police who managed to take a first-innings lead ended up losing the match by 39 runs.
