The 33rd Inter University Regatta for year 2015 is to be held on the 20th June 2015 at Colombo Rowing Club from 12.30 p.m. onwards. This is a part of the Inter-University Championship and a special battle in the waters of Beira between University of Colombo (UOC) and University of Moratuwa (UOM).
The history of rowing in the inter-university games is beyond all other university sports. But it only has the participation of two teams from University of Colombo (UOC) and University of Moratuwa (UOM). This is mainly due to lack of resources for the participation of other university teams. Yet the excitement of the regatta never goes down as these teams are giants in the university arena trying to take the title home.
This regatta will mainly consist of the following events in the respective order and points for the scoreboard.

The team scoring the highest will become the winner of this regatta. Looking back at the recent past UOM men have gone for a whitewash (42-0) in years 2014 &2013 and won the event at 42-2 in 2012. UOM women also won the regatta consecutively for last two years. This past is expected to impose a pressure on both the teams.
UOM men’s captain Visal, “ Our team is mostly made of juniors, hope this regatta will be a good experience for them and the consecutive whitewashes in the past does have slight pressure on us, however we would like to race for good timings and records. This event will be a preparation for SLUG next year.”
Both the teams have practiced hard to ‘take a home’ in the end, so please come and cheer for your favourites tomorrow afternoon at CRC.
