The first Youth Test between Sri Lanka U19 and India U19 ended in a draw today (16th July) at the Galle International Cricket Stadium after four days of high-quality cricket dominated by the batters.

Resuming in reply to Sri Lanka’s first-innings total of 424, India U19 produced an outstanding batting display, piling up a massive 576 to take a commanding first-innings lead of 152 runs.

Opening batter Lakshya Raichandani was the standout performer with a magnificent double century, while Sagar Virk and Manav Krishna also struck impressive centuries to put the visitors in complete control.

For Sri Lanka, Lathendra Akash was the most successful bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 66 runs.

Trailing by 152 runs, Sri Lanka U19 began their second innings and showed resilience with the bat. Opening batter Dulnith Sigera led the fightback with a fluent 72, while middle-order batter Kavija Gamage registered a well-deserved half-century, scoring 51.

The hosts reached 178 for 6 at stumps on the fourth and final day, ensuring the opening match of the two-Test series finished in a draw.

The second and final Youth Test between Sri Lanka U19 and India U19 is scheduled to begin on 20th July at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
