Don Bosco off the bottom of the table; Kalutara Park gets vital points

Don Bosco lifted themselves off the bottom of the Dialog Champions League points table with eight points from a possible 12 points.

They are on a four match undefeated streak with two wins and two draws, which is in contrast to their first 13 games where they could only muster two wins and two draws and 9 defeats. Don Bosco are on in the 13th place with 16 points.

Don Bosco drew 1 all against Blue Star, while defeating Blue Star’s rivals Kalutara Park 3-2. Then they went on to defeat the strong Java Lane outfit 2-1 and gain a point away from home at Matara against the Matara City Club. Victor Ikenna had given Matara City the lead in the 27th minute but Nuwan Janith equalized for Don Bosco four minutes later where the scores stood the same till the 90 minutes. 

Negombo Youth leave it late

Negombo Youth were given an almighty scare by Police SC but managed to win the match 1-0 with a late goal.

Negombo Youth who are fighting for the championship battled it out against Police who are bottom of the table. Police had a tactical defensive game and frustrated Negombo Youth until Prasad managed to find an opening in the 90th minute. 

 

Kalutara Park gets vital points

Kalutara Park which is in danger of being relegated this season, picked up a vital four points from a possible six, including their first win of the season.

Kalutara Park backed by their home fans at the Vernon Fernando Stadium defeated fellow strugglers Thihariya Youth 3-0 and drew with their strong neighbours Super Sun 1-1. 

Against Thihariya Yoouth Philip gave them the lead in the 12th minute going into half time while a brace by Chathura Abeysekara in the dying minutes secured them the three points.

 

Up Country crush neighbours Crystal Palace  

Up Country Lions put five past their hill country neighbours, Crystal Palace in a 5-1 win at the Jayathilaka Stadium.

Up Country Lions guided by their Serbian coach Zoric Ivan dominated proceedings and ended the first half with a 2-0 lead. In the 36th minute Kumarasiri opened the scoring with L. Nuwan adding the second three minutes later.

Kwando Martin made it 3-0 for the Lions soon after the break while Mohomed Fawzan added the fourth and fifth in the 64th minute and 74th minutes. Bernard managed to score a consolation goal for Crystal Palace deep into injury time. 

 

Olayemi double gives Solid the win

Afeez Olayemi scored a double as Solid SC defeated Pelicans SC 4-0 at the Kekirawa Public Grounds.

Sindujan gave Solid the lead as early as in the 3rd minute with Shola making it 2-0 just before half time. Solid dominated proceedings as they did in the first half as Olayemi added the 3rd and 4th goals in the 71st and 90th minutes.
