President of the Football Federation of Sri Lanka, Mr.Anura De Silva said,

“We are delighted with the scope developed last year, which really improved the quality and standard of football by the teams that qualified to play in the Super 8 stage. In 2016, we reduced the number of teams from 22 to 18, and we have had better performances from teams as well as the momentum for the crowd to enjoy. We wish all the Super 8 teams best of luck and may the best team emerge champions.”

At the last year’s Dialog Champions League, Colombo FC emerged champs, fending off stiff competition from Renown SC and SL Army SC.
