Mahanama College registered a massive 133-run win over D.S. Senanayake College to clinch the 18th Annual Limited Overs Encounter between the sides played today (21st April) at SSC Grounds, Colombo.

Having won the toss, D.S. Senanayake College skipper Gaviru Senhas invited the opposition to take the first lease of the wicket.

Mahanama College got off to a solid start as they raced away to 122 runs for the loss of only 1 wicket in 18 overs. Mahanama top order batters Dulnith Sigera (34), Kavindu Amameth (42) and Koojana Perera (35) chipped in with useful knocks to set the tone up front.

However, D.S. bowlers managed to make a grand comeback into the contest dismissing 6 wickets for 74 runs. At 196/7, the middle order batter Rashmika Perera was joined by Eshan Withanage at the crease and the duo added 107 runs for the 8th wicket reviving the Mahanama innings.

Perera went onto notch up a brilliant century – 111 runs off 84 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 132.14 as Mahanama posted a 300+ total on the board.

Dilash Kumaranayake was the pick of the bowlers for D.S. Senanayake College as he grabbed 3 wickets for 53 runs in his 10-over spell.

In reply, D.S. Senanayake College faltered with the bat as they were knocked over for just 172 runs. No. 8 batter Shanal Binuksha put on a fighting half-century but it wasn’t enough as D.S. Senanayake College suffered a massive defeat at the end.

Inuka Karannagoda was exceptional with the ball for Mahanama College as he managed to scalp 4 wickets for 37 runs in his 10-over spell.
