671

The first round of Super Eight matches of the Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League – Tier A tournament concluded today (20), with Colts, Tamil Union and CCC recording outright victories.

NCC vs Colts

In what ended as probably the game of the season so far, Colts Cricket Club toppled the mighty NCC unit as they chased down 356 runs on the final day for victory.

NCC declared on their overnight score of 402/9, as the Colts opener Sangeeth Cooray and Hashan Dumindu were stubborn in defence to make sure Colts got a good start.

The duo in fact batted over 50 overs in a stand worth 146 runs to give Colts the license to go after the stiff target before both batsmen fell after making half centuries.

Vishad Randika’s half century along with Jehan Daniel’s cameo (33) started Colts’ charge towards victory, before Priyamal Perera who is having a dream season – scoring two double centuries already – guided them home in mandatory overs.

Colts reached their target of 356 in the 95th over of the day with four wickets to spare, as Priyamal remained unbeaten on 87* off just 83 balls.
