DS Senanayake College were awarded the match when the crowd invaded the playing area and made a big havoc in the 9th Battle of Golds – Limited Overs Encounter against Mahanama College at SSC grounds on Sunday. 

A lower order rally by Randev Pathirana, Thiran Dhanapala and Harith Samarasinghe were unable to overcome the top order collapse as S.Thomas’ College held their nerve to retain the Mustang’s Trophy by 16 runs yesterday.

The historical and remarkable lovers’ quarrel between Richmond College and Mahinda College, the two top schools in Galle have spread their colours all over the town and was worked off for the 110th consecutive time at the Galle International Cricket Stadium today (20th) and will continue tomorrow (21st).

The first round of the under 19 all island limited overs tournament 2014/15 is coming to an exciting end with only few games left. Trinity College, Mahanama College, Lumbini College,  Ananda College, Richmond College and defending champions, Thurstan College have already booked their places in the pre-quarter finals. 

After a busy weekend with the ‘Big Match’, Royal College, Colombo started their under 19 all island limited overs tournament 2014/15 campaign with an easy win over Sri Devananda while 2013/14 Schools two-day league champions, Richmond College crushed the former champions in 2012, St. Joseph’s College in their games worked out on Monday. 

Capital grinds to a halt as country’s elite turn out for annual match

Thurstan College shrugged off a spirited Isipathana College chase to win their 35th annual limited overs encounter by 30 runs and claim the W.A. Silva memorial trophy on Sunday at P. Sara Oval grounds. 

St. Sebastian’s College won the 30th annual limited-overs encounter when they defeated their arch-rivals Prince of Wales College by 79 runs on Sunday at Moratuwa. 

All-round brilliant, Sammu Ashan produced a scintillating performance as Ananda College beat Nalanda College by 5 wickets in their 41st annual limited overs encounter worked out at SSC grounds on Sunday. 

St. Peter’s College triumphed over St. Joseph’s College by 59 runs (D/L method) in their 41st annual limited-overs cricket encounter played at R. Premadasa Stadium on Saturday to regain the Rev. Fr Peter A. Pillai memorial trophy after a lapse of 2 years. 

Persistant downpour of rain that prevailed during the morning prevented the second day of the 99th episode of the battle to proceed as planned leaving no choice for umpires but to call of the game.
