Schools Limited Overs Cricket – Royal decimate Sri Devananda, Richmond crush St. Joseph’s

After a busy weekend with the ‘Big Match’, Royal College, Colombo started their under 19 all island limited overs tournament 2014/15 campaign with an easy win over Sri Devananda while 2013/14 Schools two-day league champions, Richmond College crushed the former champions in 2012, St. Joseph’s College in their games worked out on Monday. 

 

Royal College vs Sri Devananda College

Randev Pathirana’s superb all-round performance helped Royal College defeat Sri Devananda Maha Vidyalaya by 5 wickets at Reid Avenue. 

Randev’s five-wicket haul allowed Royal to dismiss the Devans for 110 and his knock of 56 saw Royal reach the target in just 18 overs.

Sri Devananda MV – 110 all out in 30.3 overs: Imesh Udayanga 40, Amindu Udara 15, Randev Pathirana 5/16, Lasith Embuldeniya 2/11.

Royal – 111/5 in 18 overs: Randev Pathirana 56, Sakun Kanchana 2/21, Mahesh Sanjeewa 2/23. 

 

Richmond College vs St. Joseph’s College

Richmond College, Galle booked their place in the pre-quarter final with an easy 141-run win over St. Joseph’s College at FTZ grounds in Katunayake. 

Skipper Sithara Gimhan’s magical knock of 84 helped them reach a mammoth score of 283 for 9 and later their bowlers bundled out the Josephians for 142.

Richmond – 283/9 in 50 overs: Sithara Gimhan 84, Wanindu Hasaranga 38, Chamika Hewage 36, Chamod Piyumal 37*, Aravinda Akurugoda 2/32, Harin Cooray 2/32, Malshan Rodrigo 2/41.

St. Joseph’s – 142 all out in 42.2 overs: Malshan Rodrigo 29, Sandaruwan Rodrigo 22, Shevon Fonseka 22, Bhanuka Madupriya 3/7, Chamod Piyumal 2/28, Avindu Theekshana 2/32.

 

Prince of Wales’ College vs St. Servatius‘ College

Cambrians recorded a hard-fought 2-wicket win over the hosts in Matara in a nail-biting game.

Sandun Soysa’s valiant unbeaten knock of 73 helped the visitors chase down a paltry target of 155 in the 41st over. 

St. Servatius’ – 154/9 in 50 overs: Kavindu Umesh 21, Nimesh Maduranga 53*, Sachintha Dulshan 3/19, Thilan Nimesh 2/24, Rameesha Soysa 2/28.
