Second half master class of one touch football sees Colombo FC score..

Piped to be an emotional encounter between the two rivals, failed to produce the entertainment yearned by the good crowd who made their way from Kalutara and Beruwala. The neutral venue also played a part as the match lacked enthusiasm.

Early part of the first half exchange was even as both teams tried to control the midfield and get territorial advantage. Blue Star looked better on the ball and tried working their way up whereas Super Sun tried to hit on the counter.

Up until the 20th minute there was hardly any goal mouth action. Within a span of 4 minutes Super Sun got three opportunities to take the lead. Mohamed Fasan the culprit on the first instance tried to lob the goalkeeper, from a through ball from Asanka De Silva, which only managed to hit over the crossbar.

Then it was Mohamed Shazny who shot straight at the goalkeeper Manjula Fernando from a cross by Oluwatosin Daniel. De Silva was denied by the crossbar minutes later with long range effort where the Blue Star keeper looked to be in control.

First glimpse on goal for Blue Star came with a header from veteran striker E.B. Channa who just headed wide after rising the highest. Final chance in the first half also fell to Channa, whose side footed effort from point blank range at the far post went across the face of the goal after meeting a cross from Mohamed Mazeer.

Half Time – Blue Star SC 0 – 0 Super Sun SC

Early part of the second half was forgetful as the exchanges were scrappy and lacked the quality. Attacks from both teams were only through free kicks and even that too were wasted.

Blue Star looked the team to break the deadlock as good runs were made by Channa and Ebuzajnwa Chigozie only to lack the precision in front of goal. Afeez Olayemi too spurned a chance for Super Sun with just the goalkeeper to beat.

With 10 minutes to go it looked like Channa would head in a cross from Chigozie until the goalkeeper, Mohamed Mubashir plucked it off the air to prevent the opportunity.

Couple of minutes later Channa turned provider with a flicked header and sent Chigozie through on goal. With Mubashir rooted to his spot and the goal at his mercy Chigozie only managed to hit high over the crossbar much to the disappointment of the Kalutara fans.

Super Sun got a golden opportunity to clinch it at the end when Afeez Olayemi was clear on goal only to be expertly tackled by M.I.D. Kumara.
