Sri Lanka secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over Pakistan in the second semi-final of the Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026, played today (11th September) in Dubai, booking their place in the final against India on Sunday (13th September).
Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu won the toss and opted to bowl first, with two changes made to the playing XI. Vishmi Gunarathne and Chethana Vimukthi were left out, while Hasini Perera and Mithali Ayodhya came into the side.
Pakistan posted 130 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with captain Fatima Sana top-scoring with an unbeaten 47 off 36 balls, including 4 fours and 2 sixes.

For Sri Lanka, the off-spinner Athapaththu and left-arm spinner Chamodi Praboda led the bowling effort, claiming two wickets each to restrict Pakistan to a competitive total.
Sri Lanka were made to work hard in the run chase, losing 6 wickets before reaching the target with 8 balls to spare. Harshitha Samarawickrama played a crucial knock of 36 runs, while Kavisha Dilhari chipped in with a valuable 33 to steer Sri Lanka over the line.
Fatima Sana continued to make an impact for Pakistan with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for 38 runs, but Sri Lanka held their nerve in the closing stages to seal a memorable victory.
