Colombo Kaps returned to winning ways with a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Dambulla Sixers in the 17th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026, played today (29th July) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
After winning the toss, Dambulla Sixers elected to bat first and posted a competitive 174 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks largely to another impressive innings from Reeza Hendricks.

Batting at No. 3, Hendricks continued his fine form by scoring 80 off 54 deliveries, striking nine fours and three sixes. It was his third half-century of the LPL 2026 season. Gulbadin Naib then provided the late fireworks with a quickfire 33 off just 13 balls, smashing four boundaries and two sixes to lift the Sixers to a challenging total.
In reply, Colombo Kaps chased down the target in the 19th over with four wickets in hand to secure their fourth victory of the tournament.

Opener Rubin Hermann gave the Kaps a flying start with an entertaining 48 off 26 balls, which included eight fours and a six. Captain Kamindu Mendis anchored the chase with a composed 39, while Ben McDermott chipped in with a valuable 33 to keep the Kaps on course for victory.
Despite the defeat, Dambulla Sixers received notable bowling performances from Dushmantha Chameera and Akila Dananjaya, who claimed two wickets apiece.
