Zadran’s masterclass and Madushanka’s brilliance seal fourth win for Jaffna Kings

Jaffna Kings produced a clinical all-round performance to defeat Colombo Kaps by 19 runs in the 15th match of the Lanka Premier League 2026, played today (28th July) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Asked to bat first, Jaffna Kings posted a formidable 202 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs, led by a magnificent innings from No. 3 batter Ibrahim Zadran.

The Afghan batter rediscovered his best form with a superb 95 off 65 deliveries, striking 12 fours and 3 sixes to anchor the Kings’ innings. Opening batter Kamil Mishara provided an aggressive start with 44 runs, while Towhid Hridoy added a valuable 31 in the middle order to propel Jaffna past the 200-run mark.

Chasing 203 for victory, Colombo Kaps never quite gathered the momentum required despite a fighting effort from opener Sadeera Samarawickrama, who top-scored with 44 off 36 balls, including four boundaries and two sixes.

Jaffna Kings kept the pressure on throughout the innings, with left-arm seamer Dilshan Madushanka leading the bowling attack. Madushanka produced his best spell of LPL 2026, claiming 3 wickets for 30 runs, as Colombo Kaps were restricted to 183 for 9 in their 20 overs.
