Zahira Crowned champions of Kind Kick 2018

An energetic Gampola Zahira was crowned champions in “Kind Kick 2018” Futsal Tournament. The Blaze of Blues were the Runners-up in the remarkable futsal tournament organized Being Kind Foundation-Doha.

Both teams were brilliant and played excellent, skilful football throughout the tournament. Both teams had their own strategies in the final but were unable to break the deadlock as both custodians were solid throughout the tournament.

Gampola Zahira slotted into Group B with Al Bidda, Aspire FC and Fantastic Yellow and managed to keep clean sheets throughout the tournament. They moved to the pre-quarter finals with elevated confidence to compete against Maroons City. The challenge was met successfully and Gampola Zahirian then beat Puttalam Zahira in the semi-finals.

The big final saw full time blown with the scores on 0-0 with a  3 penalty shootout needed to decide the 1st ever Kind Kick Champions.

High classy goal keeping by former Crystal Palace custodian Mohamed Akram saw him make 2 penalty saves. He engraved his name as a best goal keeper and was able to kept 5 clean sheets throughout tournament.

“It was a fantastic evening, such a wonderful, successful event. We are so happy about our sweeping it all off. This is our 2nd title in 2018. The boys played really well. It was not an easy tournament. Many good teams participated.”

An exhibition football match played between Asian Football Academy vs Stafford Sri Lanka Community School at the tournament was further strengthened by presence of Chief Guest – Sri Lankan Ambassador in Qatar, Honourable H.E Mr. A.S.P Liyanage and Mohamed Hazim Hamza, the Guest of Honor.

Being Kind Foundation is a prominent charity foundation in Qatar which is keen on supporting the Sri Lankan community by organizing various events including Futsal, Cricket, Bowling tournaments.

The Being King Foundation was founded in 2008 with one student. That number has now risen rapidly to 116 students. The Being Kind Foundation (BKF) is a registered and well established, affiliated foundation in Qatar, dedicated to providing education facilities and development programs for children, especially in the rural belt of Sri Lanka regardless of faith, race, gender or political beliefs.
