Here’s round up of the Super 8 matches in the SLC Tier A Premier League Tournament which took place today.

SSC vs CCC

A total of 16 wickets fell on the first day in the match between SSC and CCC at R Premadasa stadium. SSC won the toss and elected to bat first. They started off with a 62 run opening stand but soon fell apart. Kaushal Silva top scored with 47 at the top and apart from him, Kavindu Kulasekara was the only batsman who showed some resistance. Wanidu Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers with a 5-for SSC got cleaned up for 147 runs. 

In reply at stumps CCC was crumbling at 89 for 6.

Chilaw Marians vs Ragama

Nilanka Premarathne’s five wicket haul helped Ragama take the upper hand on day 1 in their match against Chilaw Marians at Colts Grounds. The only batsman who went past the 20 run mark was Mahela Udawatte. He top scored with 41 while the rest fell apart. Nilanka’s figures stood at 5 for 41. 

At stumps, Ragama was 86 for 2 with Saminda Fernando unbeaten on 50 runs.

Colts vs Tamil Union

Colts took honours on the day 1 after strong comeback in the latter part of the last session in their match against Tamil Union at Panagoda. Colts posted 218 for their first innings with half centuries from Akila Dhananjaya and Sadeera Samarawickrama. Dulanjana Mendis took 5 for 71 and Ramith Rambukwella 4 for 75. 

Tamil Union lost early wickets but there was good resistance from Sithira Gimhan and Kithruwan Vithanage. Towards the end Colts came back strongly with quick wickets and restricted Tamil Union for 117 for 6 at stumps.

NCC vs Army 

NCC managed to post 268 all out for their first innings in their match against Army at Katunayake. Angelo Perera and Thimira Jayasinghe scored fifties while Chathuranga De Silva, Lahiru Udara and Jehan Mubarak chipped in with valuable cameos. Yashoda Mendis was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 65. 

At stumps, Army was 23 for no loss.
