Yasiru Rodrigo who picked up 6 wickets for 22 runs in the first innings and Dilmin Rathnayake who picked up 5 wickets for 53 runs in the second innings were the chief contributors of the victory for the school by the sea.

St. Joseph Vaz College managed to take honors on day one against Zahira College in their Group D fixture which commenced today at Zahira Colleg Grounds in Colombo. After been put into bat first, Zahira batsmen were bundled out for just 77 runs. Menusha Perera was the pick of the bowlers the visitors as he took 4 scalps for just 6 runs.
In reply, St. Joseph Vaz College posted 157 runs on the board with Sri Lanka U19 cap Nipun Dananjaya top scoring with 41 and Menusha Perera adding valuable 40 runs with the bat. The hosts began their second innings 80 runs behind and were 13 runs for 2 wickets at the close of play on day one.
