Maris Stella College, Negombo locked horns with Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa today, 12th March, to decide which of the two teams stays in the tournament.

The game was played in the Cambrians’ backyard where the visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. The boys from Negombo failed badly against the Cambrian skipper who was in full-throttle. Suwath Mendis rushed through the Maristonian line up picking up 4 wickets for just 10 runs. The two seamers Niduka Fernando and Vinuja Ranpul picked up 2 wickets each.

Ravindu Fernando’s 23 runs was the top-score for Maris Stella College. That tells the story. The Negombo school was undone for 129 runs in 40.1 overs.

The Annites visit to Moratuwa was cut short with some spectacular…

The game got a little spicy when Maris Stella looked to bounce back with the ball. At one point Prince of Wales College was at 65 for 5 but, Kavindu de Mel took control of one end and anchored an unbeaten 32 to see them over the line. The host reached the target in 45.5 overs with 2 wickets intact and happily booked a spot in the quarters.

The senior most hands, Pasindu Ushetti and Ravindu Fernando tried but failed. Ushetti picked up 3 wickets for 32 runs while Fernando picked up 2 for 17.
