Here’s a round-up of the super 8 matches in the SLC Tier A Premier League 

Army vs SSC 

SSC registered a convincing 10 wicket victory over Army at Colts Grounds today. Army were in deep trouble at the resumption of play with 51 runs on the board for the loss of 5 wickets. Seekuge Prasanna was unbeaten on 31 but he was dismissed early on which paved the way for SSC to clean up the tail. Army could only make 106 runs in 37.3 overs giving them a lead of just 11 runs. Vimukthi Perera bagged 4 for 16 and Dasun Shanaka took 3 for 21.

SSC took only 6 balls to get over the line and they did that without losing any wickets.

Early on Army made 228 for their first innings with a brilliant 74 by Dilshan De Soyza. In reply SSC made 323 all out with Dasun Shanaka scoring 92 runs.

SL Army – 228 all out in 67.3 overs: Dilshan De Soyza 74, Seekuge Prasanna 40, Sachithra Senanayake 4/43, Kasun Madushanka 3/29, Dasun Shanaka 2/41.

Tamil Union vs Ragama

A 277 run partnership for the 2nd wicket between former Peterite duo Lahiru Milantha and Janith Liyanage helped Ragama take a 69 run lead against Tamil Union at R Premadasa Stadium. Both of them reached triple figures yesterday and they carried on from where they left off. Janith was the first to fall for 130 and he was shortly followed by Lahiru who fell 6 runs short of 150. Lahiru Thirimanna and Roshen Silva added 65 with Thirimanne scoring 46. Roshen Silva was unbeaten on 42 and Ragama first innings total stood at 387 for 4 when bad light brought a premature end to the day.

Early on Tamil Union posted 318 for their first innings with centuries from Tharanga Paranavithane and Dineth Thimodya.

NCC vs CCC 

CCC only required 180 runs to win with 9 wickets in hand in their match against NCC at P Sara Stadium. NCC resumed play with 187 for 5. Former Peterite Skipper Angelo Perera took the responsibility to his shoulders and carried his team to 332 runs with a brilliant century. His knock of 108 runs came off 186 balls. Thimira Jayasinghe and Farveez Maharoof chipped with valuable cameos down the order. Usman Ishak was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 47 while Ashan Priyanjan and Shaluka Silva bagged 2 wickets each.

At stumps on day 3, CCC was 60 for 1.

Early on, NCC made 200 for their first innings and in reply CCC made 298 with a century from Ron Chandraguptha.
