Sri Lanka went down against India & Pakistan at the 17th Asian Games Hockey

The Sri Lankan men’s Hockey team was trampled by the Pakistani Hockey militia by 14 – 00 on last Saturday at Incheon Square. Pakistani Hockey team played a much easy game by attacking the defending line of the Lankan stickers.

Even though our stickers strive hard to cover their goal line, Pakistani team succeeded in surpassing the Lankan defenders to read the score board 09 – 00 at the breather.

In the first half the Sri Lanka team managed to be awarded by two penalty corners after they put up with a firm method to reach the Pakistani D post only few times but they were not able to convert any corner into goals.

In the second half, the Sri Lanka Hockey team played a game of all in all to secure the goal post by engaging in a hard preserving method, as a result of that the Pakistani team was unable to score a single goal until the 7th minute of the game.

Nevertheless the magnificent stickers from Pakistan team were remarkable in taking full advantage from the penalty corners they received and they converted 07 penalties into goals and they beat Sri Lanka in their first match at the 17th Asian Games in this year and it was remarkable that the Sri Lanka Hockey team were through to Asian Games after 36 years.

The second game of the tournament for the Lankans seemed to be much solid than the Pakistani stickers. In the second game played against Indian Hockey giants, the Lankans managed to secure their goal line to be beaten by 08 – 00.

Indians started their fight to bring down the Lankan stickers by 08 goals to nil scoring a hat-trick by Rupinderpal Singh. He was amazing at the day by scoring 03 goals and Ramandeep Singh scored 02 goals under his name. The former champions even converted a penalty stroke to secure their place in the ladder.
