The Colombo Hockey Association and Wennappuwa Hockey Association managed to win the Men’s and Women’s titles of the Junior 44th Men’s and 3rd Women’s National Hockey Championship 2023 respectively.
The tournament, hosted by the Sri Lanka Hockey Federation, was held from the 14th to the 17th of February at Shalika Grounds, Colombo 5.
In the Men’s Final, Colombo HA emerged victorious, defeating Matale HA with a score of 2-1, while Kandy HA secured the third place in the Men’s category.
In the Women’s Final, Wennappuwa HA overcame Kandy HA with a 1-0 win while Colombo HA grabbed third place.
Nethmina Dharmakeerthi from Matale HA won the Best Player award, while Helaruwan Karunarathne from Kandy HA won the Best Goalkeeper award in the Men’s category. Meanwhile, Nadali Sirimanna from Combine University HA managed to win the Best Player award in the Women’s category, while Neeliya Kawshini from Wennappuwa HA won the Best Goalkeeper award.
