Shehan Jayasuriya  and Lasith Croospulle hit half centuries but Saracens SC took control of their encounter against Negombo CC.

Negombo CC ended the day on 215/9 with skipper Angelo Jayasinghe unbeaten on 30*.

Left arm orthodox bowler Chamikara Edirisinghe was the chief destroyer picking up 3/50, while Hareen Weerasinghe and Saliya Saman picked up two wickets apiece.

Army SC made steady progress at a low run rate to end the day on 204/4 in 83.3 overs.

The only successful bowler for Ragama CC was skipper Amila Aponso who captured two wickets, before Army’s man-in-form Dushan Vimukthi made an unbeaten 57*.

Moors made a bold start to the day, before going on to make 324/9 at close.

Ramesh Mendis’ unbeaten 75* was the highlight of the Moors’ innings while the experienced Chamara Silva chipped in with 43.

Promising middle order batsman Priyamal Perera’s good form continued with another century, as he guided his team to a respectable 272/9. Known to perform well under pressure, he guided the middle and lower order to remain unbeaten on 110* at close of day one.

It was BRC’s experienced head TM Sampath who kept pegging away with regular breakthroughs, as he ended with top figures of 6/56 on his home turf.
