Bangladesh’s fast-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against India next month due to insufficient recovery from a recurring back injury. According to scans, the recovery is likely to take more time under the keen eye of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s medical team.

“Due to a recurring back injury, Shaif (Saifuddin) will be rested from the India tour this year giving him an opportunity to consolidate his recovery over a longer period of time.” said the Bangladesh team’s physio, Julian Calefato on Thursday (October 24). “He will now also have the opportunity to spend more time strengthening his body and his situation will be reviewed by the medical team again in the upcoming weeks for further updates.”

Saifuddin was initially included in the 15-member squad for the series, but the team management was looking for other alternatives given his then-latest scan reports. He was also picked for the recently-concluded T20I tri-series that involved Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, only for the injury to resurface.
