Pakistan leads Sri Lanka 3-2 in Davis Cup

Sri Lanka did well to hold their own against favourites Pakistan but the visiting side went on to win the tussle in a 3-2 in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia Oceania Zone Group 2 tie against Sri Lanka emerging winners.

 

Visitors were looking solid on the 3rd singles tie which took place between Harshana Godamanna and Aqeel Khan. It was an anticipated battle which Harshana Godamanna overcame much to the delight of the local crowd present as the winner of the tie for a score of 6/4, 6/3, and 6/4. 

Dineshkanthan Thangarajah, one of the most aggressive Srilankan players played against Aisam Querishi and lost on a score of 6/2, 3/6, 6/3, 6/3 making Pakistan the winner of the championship.  

The home team Sri Lanka and the visiting team Pakistan was on a tie for last two days as 0/1, 1/1, ½ for the single one, single two and double events respectively. 

Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Asia Oceania Zone Group 2 tie was organized by the Sri Lanka Tennis Association with the aim of uplifting the standards of Sri Lankan tennis. The mega international event which was worked off from the 1-3rd February was concluded today.
