The 9th School Games Table Tennis Championship of the Northern Province was held on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2016 at the Public Indoor Stadium in Mannar with the active participation of over 300 players representing 12 zones in the North.
The championship conducted under two age groups, under 15 and under 19 for both girls and boys, saw the Jaffna schools taking major honors. The tournament was held under the purview of the Education Ministry of the North and was graced by the Former President of the Table Tennis Association and former General Secretary Chandana Perera.
Jaffna Central College emerged champions in the Under 15 boys’ category defeating Anaicoddai RCTMS 3/0. Kokuvil Hindu College took the honors in the Under 15 girls’ category and coming in second was Vembadi Girls High School.
The Under 19 boys’ title went to Anaicoddai RCTMS Jaffna while the Jaffna Hindu Ladies took the Under 19 girls’ trophy. Union College Jaffna and Vembadi Girls High School were runners-up in the under 19 boys’ and girls’ categories respectively.
