St. Joseph’s College all-rounder Dunith Wellalage will lead a strong Sri Lanka Schools U15 cricket team in the International Under 15 Cricket Challenge 2018 for the Tuanku Ja’afar Trophy in Malayasia.

The tournament which will be played for the 14th time since its inauguration in 2004 will be worked off from 23rd to 28th April in two venues. The defending champions, Sri Lanka have managed to win the title on 11 occasions.

Current national players such as Dinesh Chandimal, Thisara Perera, Kusal Janith Perera, Ashan Priyanjana, Lahiru Thirimanna, Isuru Udana, Niroshan Dickwella, Lahiru Gamage, Kusal Mendis, Lahiru Kumara, Sandun Weerakkody and Sadeera Samarawickrama have all taken part in this tournament as juniors.

“For over a decade, all the young Sri Lankan cricketers in the U15 level gain valuable international experience through this tournament. We have always done well in Malaysia and this time also we can win the tournament.” Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association Secretary Dilshan De Silva said exclusively to ThePapare.com.
