Two weeks left and still Blue Star, Colombo FC and Renown theoretically all remain in contention for the title.

With the Air Force team away touring Pakistan, 6 teams are in action in gameweek 6, and based on the result of the week’s big clash, Colombo FC vs Blue Star SC we could be down to two contenders by the end of the week.

ThePapare.com takes a look at this week’s fixtures.

Solid SC vs Army SC (17th February at 3:30pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Two teams on different trajectories, its difficult to see this game in any other way than an Army rout of Solid who’s squad has been ravaged by injuries.

Last week the teams from Anuradhapura had no players on the bench and the Army teams who are in rip roaring form should have no problems picking up the win.

Army may opt to give some of their fringe players some game time with the likes of Chandrasekara and Rimzan having got on the score sheet last week.

Navy SC vs Renown SC (18th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

Renown will know that the Navy team on their day can be a threatening outfit, having lost to them in the group stages.

However they will go into the match knowing that a win is a must if they are to make their clash against Colombo FC a title decider.

Renown have been in good form with Fazal and Job Michael being among the goals as of late and will go in as favourites to reverse the group stage upset and claim all three points.

Blue Star SC vs Colombo FC (19th February at 3:20pm at Kelaniya Football Complex)

The headline clash this week, with the teams ranked 3rd and 1st respectively locking horns in what should be a fascinating battle.

Blue Star SC will be upset with their performance last week, as they probably should have beaten Solid by a much bigger margin than they eventually did. Things just didn’t click for them in the offensive third and they can ill afford a similar performance if they want to beat Colombo FC and repeat their group stage 1-0 win over the defending champions.

Colombo FC on the other hand are in top gear at the moment with Momas Yapo in particular in brilliant form.

Key for Colombo FC will be to remain patient as Blue Star have shown, that they can defend well and soak up pressure for long periods of time when needed. The longer the score stays at 0-0, the more Blue Star will fancy their chances of picking up another win over Colombo FC. Should be a cracker of a match.
